NEW MEMBER TIPS
- A list of scheduled tournaments for the season is published and available at the awards dinner in late March and in the membership book as well as the "Piper". The awards night provides a great opportunity to meet other members and possibly sign up for the first tournaments in the year's schedule. Sign up forms for future tournaments are also posted throughout the year in the locker rooms.
- The Grille Room is a wonderful evening dining experience, Wednesday through Friday. You will note specials, which are published in the "Piper" for those nights. Typically there are more specials published on the back of the menu that evening. You also have the opportunity to order from any of the extensive remaining options on the menu. Bon Appetit!...The food is superb. Make reservations early!
- For "Full" golfing members... Usually on Saturday and Sunday mornings, there is an organized (but informal) "pick up" match. Groups are drawn by lot in the Grille Room at 7:15am. Those that choose to participate, tee off at 7:30 am. Another group starts about 9:00 am. Do not be shy, you are always welcome. This is a great way to meet other members and enjoy a friendly competition. Each foursome represents a team competing with the balance of other foursomes in the field.
- If you prefer to make your own foursome, there are plenty of openings to tee off between 7:30 am and 9:00 am or after the 9:00 am group.
- Be sure to visit the Pro Shop and acquaint yourself with the staff and the handicap computer system. Any member of the staff will assist you. Handicaps are posted monthly at the Pro Shop and individual cards are updated and available in the Grille Room monthly.
- The practice range is available to all golfing members. You have the option of joining a range program where you pay one small fee for the entire season (unlimited bags) or pay by the bag. Range ball costs are comparable to local ranges, but Highlands facilities are grass and more conducive to a good pre-game warm-up. One bag is roughly equal to a small bucket, 35 balls. Carts are available to reach the range behind the clubhouse(at no charge).
- Prizes from winning tournaments sometimes include "chits", which may be used to purchase merchandise in the Pro Shop. The chits are posted on the bulletin board in the Pro Shop.
